I saw one on my way to pick up rebar today. I like it way more than I should.
Couldn’t get a photo, because driving. Here’s some cool ones.
Ever found a variant of a common car that you didn’t know existed?

A long lime ago, I found a Silverado SS...

SS454 or the later SS?
![]() 04/08/2016 at 22:05 |

Both, actually

The later SS is a real oddball, I love the SS454 though.

You should love these because they are awesome. Full size coupes ftw.

Not an SS, but I see this every day at studio:
Look at those stripes.

I know, I love the shape of the B pillar. It’s more elegant than the G-body’s.

I love the 77-79 Caprice with that “Bent Glass” rear window. The 80-85 coupes looked good but not as special.
Here’s one I knew and didn’t know. The Grand Prix 2+2 Aerocoupe was a neat Homologation special with only 1225 built. Oddly here were a handful of them that didn’t get the Aero rear glass. The conversion wasn’t done in house at Pontiac. Auto Fab was in charge of the conversions for the GP and at one point they just ran out of parts.

Vs the actual Aero Coupe.

The one I saw wasn’t a bent glass, I’ll agree that those are cooler looking. I’ve seen (and liked) a Grand Prix Aerocoupe, it’s got a face only a mother could love IMO.

It sounds wicked, and is driven by...
a girl.

Dammit, I need to move to Vancouver sooner.

Yeah, that nose is a bit unfortunate. And it never did better on track so it was a double whammy.

A buddy used to have one of those. It was a Stepside with a 350 and a 5 speed.
This is going to sound bad but.. I haven’t spoken to him since he sold it and didn’t give me a shot at it.

Understandable, these are the last of the golden age of GM trucks.

Living in Texas, I see the occasional Mexican market car driving around town. Apparently they kept on making the mk4 Jetta right up until last year. Gave it a crude facelift and sold it as the Classico.

Neat. Heavily facelifted cars are always odd.

We also got that north of the border too, it was only sold until around 2010 or so and it was called the Jetta City. There was also a Golf variant too.

Maybe it's because I never see them around, but these are god awful ugly. It's like they tried to smear the mk5 face onto the mk4.

I see them every day, and I agree. The styling doesn’t work at all on the MkIV Golf.

Love the Caprice coupes, but the ‘80-’85 Delta 88 coupe will always have my heart. My mom had an ‘84 new. I loved it, and Mom was not happy when my dad decided to trade it in.

Widen the wheels, put in a turbo V6, have sleeper fun.

Sounds like a plan to me!

I recently learned that Toyota made a convertible RAV4 for 2 years. I remember there being a few 3 doors around, but I do t know if I’ve ever seen the convertible in person. Also, it could be had with the 5 speed manual and AWD. Now I want one. Understandably, though, all of the ones I’ve seen for sale have 200,000 miles and are all clapped out.

There was also a Golf very called the Golf City.

I didn’t know they ever had a Pontiac Aerocoupe, I’d only every seen the Monte version.

Replying because Kinja is borked and didn’t post the picture. Also “do t” = don't.

Oh Oh oh. MY CAR. I didn’t know it existed until I found it on CL three days before I bought it. The Galant VR-4 (not my car pictured)

The Monte was instantly popular. The GP not so much. It’s tail was way better than its face.

A great find, reasonably obscure in a good way.

Yeah, it’s cool. AWD and a bit of power is fun, plus a square black sedan flys under the radar for the most part.

That looks damn good, considering.
